New ‘ Live In Session’ studio album -‘The Morse Code Sessions”

I finally got in a studio in September to do some recording.

I had intended to have a brand new album full of brand new songs for you but with everything that’s been going on over the last couple of years with broken arms and surgeries, I honestly felt that I wouldn’t be writing at my best.

I could have written a bunch of songs and it would probably have been ‘ok’. But, if you know me you’ll know that ‘ok’ doesn’t cut it.

I pride myself on giving my all, be it on stage or in the studio. So if it wasn’t going to be the best I could give you then it wasn’t going to work.

So… I decided to go in and simply lay down our live show but in a studio environment.

Basically we set up, all in the same room, and played as we do each and every night going for a vibe and not so much for perfection as you normally would on a studio album.

We didn’t ‘fix’ anything or add anything – well, we did invite wee bro along to add his guitar and backing vocal skills to the party – but you know what I mean. We were all in the same room at the same time doing what we do.

We simply wanted to catch what we do live and mark the time before we move on to some new material.

We are delighted with the result and feel we have definitely captured the essence of the Trio.

We hope you agree!

Shiny New Guitar

THE NEW GUITAR

I am is delighted to be working with the wonderful French luthier Yves Mion at Mion Guitars in France.

Yves was my go to guy for all things guitar when I was over there. He completely rebuilt one of my guitars which had literally started to come apart at the seams as well as doing re-frets, wiring and general overhauls on my poor planks which take a beating from my overly acidic sweaty hands every night on tour.

You may have noticed the stunning flame top Strat I played pretty much non stop from July right through to the end of the year.

Getting my hands on the guitar for the first time from the man himself!

This was a one off, custom built to my spec by Yves himself and I’ve been enjoying playing it every night on tour.

Yves’ usual builds are usually more for the metal market with some very individual designs but he wanted to make me something I would want to play above all my other guitars – and he certainly did!

Imagine my surprise when I received a message from him last week asking what spec I would like for my next one!

So all you guitar geeks out there, watch this space for the 2020 model.

Blue Cafe Live Review Stevie Nimmo

Talking about the new tracks from ‘Sky Won’t Fall’ Charlie said: “‘Change’ was very much in the style of the Nimmo Brothers with Stevie singing over bass on the verses, the crowd were very receptive to this track as people continued to enter the room. Then ‘Running On Back To You’ was a slower track with a nice long and neat solo. The last of his new stuff was the fantastic ‘Gambler’s Roll’ which was as soulful as his voice got all evening. There has been a video of this track circling online and it’s well worth a watch.”

“it was flawless, as was the set as a whole”
